First timer, or tattoo veteran... Here's your guide on what to expect from Fifty Ink Tattoo Studio Coventry.
Please keep in mind that the following describes the Fifty Ink tattoo process. There will always be slight differences in the way artists like to work, but any major deviance from these guidelines could be problematic.
You are likely to encounter unusual equipment, sights and sounds... Don't be intimidated! Embrace it, and if you are unsure about anything then just ask - Your artist is happy to discuss any queries with you.
You'll be offered free refreshments before work commences - If not, just ask… We want you to be as comfortable as possible.
Assuming you’re happy with your tattoo design and stencil, there's just a bit of paperwork to fill in before we can get started.
You may be required to prove your age - IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO TATTOO ANYBODY UNDER THE AGE OF 18. You'll also need to write down your address and phone number, so Fifty Ink can contact you in the future if need be. Payment must be made before services commence. Fifty Ink currently accept cash and bank transfer. Whatever method you pay with, you will always get a receipt.
After your paperwork is filled out, you will be seated in 'The Lab'. Your comfort is paramount at Fifty Ink, and are encouraged to bring along your own music and/or films.
The area where the tattoo is to be applied is meticulously cleaned. Then, any hair is shaved with a new disposable razor which will be discarded after use. This is a crucial step, even if you can't see any hairs. The area will be cleaned again to make sure it is smooth and ready for the stencil transfer.
Fifty Ink produces almost every stencil by hand, ensuring a perfect line drawing of the proposed tattoo. Fifty Ink use a top quality tattoo stencil fluid, which encourages the transfer to stick to skin. When the paper is removed, it will leave you with a purple-ish blue likeness of your future tattoo.
It is now time to prepare the tattoo machines. Inks will be put into disposable trays, and needles and tubes will be removed from their sterile pouches and placed in machines. A small amount of Vaseline will be placed on a clean surface for your use only.
A little vaseline will be applied to a small section of the stencil design, then it's time to start work. If you're nervous, please don't hold your breath! Take a slow, deep breath and relax! The first minute or so will be the worst. After that, your brain will get used to it and the pain will subside. Your artist may switch to a different machine or needle grouping throughout the process.
Afterwards, you will be cleaned up ready to inspect your new tattoo.
Fifty Ink always like to get a picture of your tattoo for the portfolio... And this is a good time for you to get a shot too, if you have a camera. If for any reason you do not want a photo, just say so. You are under no obligation.
Now that your tattoo is finished and clean, it needs to be treated just like a wound. A protective layer of appropriate aftercare treatment will be applied to the tattoo to prevent invasion of airborne bacteria that can cause infection. Then a bandage or film will be applied, and will be taped up to make sure it's secure until you get home.
Your artist will give you aftercare instructions. These will be given both verbally, and on a piece of paper for you to take home with you. It is important that you listen and follow the instructions you are given. From this point on, it is your responsibility to make sure your tattoo is well taken care of. The artist cannot be blamed if you get an infection because you didn't follow directions.
You are now the proud owner of a beautiful tattoo. See… Easy!
